First Look at ‘Superman’ Reboot Shows A Hero Ready For A New Beginning

Superman, Krypto, and a whole new DC Universe—this reboot’s got it all.

The highly anticipated Superman reboot has dropped its first teaser trailer, and it’s everything fans could hope for and more. David Corenswet stars as Clark Kent, with Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane. The trailer gives us a glimpse of their dynamic, setting a hopeful tone reminiscent of Christopher Reeve’s classic portrayal. We also get a first look at Nicholas Hoult as the iconic villain, Lex Luthor, a role previously played by Gene Hackman and Jesse Eisenberg.

The teaser opens with Superman crashing into the snow, battered and bloodied, before calling his dog Krypto to the rescue-yes, Krypto is here, too. The scene sets the tone for a fresh take on Superman, balancing action with humanity. In contrast to Zack Snyder’s darker vision, this version leans into optimism, with Superman saving a young girl and being celebrated by a boy raising his iconic logo. Yet, not all is rosy—Superman faces public backlash as a crowd hurls insults and objects at him.

Directed by James Gunn, the film will mark the beginning of the new DC Universe. The teaser also introduces superheroes like Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner, setting the stage for a vast superhero-filled world. Gunn’s reboot won’t rehash Superman’s origin story, focusing instead on an already-established hero in a world where superheroes have long existed. Superman is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025, and it’s sure to kick off a new era for DC films.
