Sony recently unveiled the Sony WH-1000XM5 noise-canceling headphones, fully equipped for distraction-free listening. These state-of-the-art headphones combine the company’s best noise-canceling technology and extraordinary sound with Sony’s newly developed driver, DSEE. According to the company, the new 30mm precision-engineered driver features a soft thermoplastic polyurethane edge that enhances noise canceling, especially in low-frequency ranges. Additionally, the dome is a carbon fiber composite that is lightweight and rigid, improving sound clarity that Sony says is especially noticeable in high-frequency fields. What’s more, Sony uses a premium lead-free solder containing gold that produces above-average conductivity, power distribution, and optimized circuitry for improved sound.
Two processors control eight microphones for unprecedented noise cancellation and exceptional call quality. The company calibrated four beamforming microphones specifically to pick up speech, with an improved signal-to-noise ratio to catch every word, regardless of the surrounding noise level. The Sony WH-1000XM5 noise-canceling headphones reduce high and mid-frequency and automatically optimize sound based on the environment, from airplane noise to background conversations. Sony says the Auto NC Optimizer automatically optimizes based on wearing conditions, the external environment, and atmospheric pressure. They’re also ultra-comfortable with soft-fit leather, and the company redesigned these headphones with a collapsible case for easy storage. The Sony WH-1000XM5 noise-canceling headphones are available for pre-order online at Sony and available for purchase on May 20, 2022.
