This 1980 BMW M1 AHG is a rare iconic German sports car, and its keys are about to be dropped into someone’s hands. Its tie-in with Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker is that the vehicle was previously part of the AE Performance collection owned by Walker and Roger Rodas until the current owner bought it in 2014. The BMW M1 looks like a race car because it was originally built to compete in FIA Group 5 sports car racing. To compete, BMW needed to produce a road version of the M1 to qualify. BMW built 450 M1s in total, with approximately 400 being road-going examples, and this is one of them. Moreover, this 1980 BMW M1 is one of the ultra-rare AHG models. According to Autoblog, it is believed BMW dealer AHG modified only 10 BMW M1s.

AHG modifications to the 1980 BMW M1 start with the paint. The car’s BMW tricolor livery was part of the AHG package. Under the hood, the M1’s Paul Rosche-designed 3,453cc inline-six left the factory producing 277 horsepower and left AHG’s shop with engine and exhaust upgrades producing 350 hp. An excessive amount of power is matched with a ZF five-speed manual transaxle, limited-slip differential, encased in a tubular steel space-frame designed by Italengineering. At the time of this publication, there are five days left in the auction, and the current bid is resting at $390,000.
