The BMW iX4 answers a familiar question with more consequence than usual: how much utility is worth trading for a cleaner roofline? As the third model in BMW’s New Era EV family, it recasts the Neue Klasse SUV platform as a coupe-shaped crossover, while the new iX3 M60 demonstrates how much performance the same architecture can support.

Long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a flowing roof distinguish the iX4 from the more upright iX3. A sculpted tail, pronounced rear spoiler, standard M Sport package, and full-length panoramic roof strengthen the visual separation.

The U.S.-market iX4 50 xDrive pairs two motors for 463 hp and 476 lb-ft, reaching 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Its preliminary range estimate is 428 miles.

A 112.2-kWh battery and 800-volt system support 400-kW DC charging, adding up to 184 miles in 10 minutes or moving from 10 to 80 percent in 21 minutes. The BMW iX3 now gains an M60 xDrive variant with 603 hp, 645 lb-ft, adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, and an M Sport differential. BMW quotes 3.9 seconds to 62 mph and a 149-mph top speed. An iX4 M60 with the same outputs follows later in 2027.

The iX4 50 xDrive launches in the United States in March 2027 from $66,200 before destination.

BMW will open iX3 M60 orders at the end of January, with production beginning in spring; U.S. pricing for both M60 models remains unannounced.
