MIDO has just unveiled the Ocean Star 39, adding a new 39 mm diameter case size to its iconic Ocean Star collection. Celebrating the 80th anniversary of this pioneering model in water resistance, the Ocean Star 39 blends classic design with modern functionality. The new 39 mm diameter and 10.5 mm thickness create optimal case proportions, making it a sleek yet robust timepiece.
The watch features a unidirectional rotating bezel with an aluminum ring and a 60-minute graduation, with a white Super-LumiNova dot at 12 o’clock to mark dive time. The screw-down crown ensures water resistance up to 200 meters (660 feet). The dial, protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, showcases an undulating motif with large round indexes and hour and minute hands, all enhanced with white Super-LumiNova for excellent legibility in dark environments. A date window at 3 o’clock completes the dial.
MIDO presents four variations of the Ocean Star 39 at launch. Reference M026.907.11.041.00 features a navy blue to black gradient dial with a bi-color bezel insert. Reference M026.907.11.061.00 offers a grey to black gradient dial with an orange-tipped seconds hand. The champagne dial of reference M026.907.21.021.00 is paired with a yellow gold PVD-coated steel bezel. These three models come with satin-brushed and polished stainless-steel bracelets featuring folding clasps with diver extensions and tool-free change bars.
The fourth version, reference M026.907.37.051.00, is in black PVD-coated stainless steel with a black dial and prominent orange indexes and hands, complemented by a black rubber strap. Each watch is powered by the MIDO automatic caliber 72, offering a 72-hour power reserve and enhanced accuracy and shock resistance thanks to its Nivachron balance-spring. With prices starting at $1,100, the Ocean Star 39 is a stylish and functional addition to any watch collection.
