The term Longtail is a storied nameplate for McLaren, having originated from the legendary F1 GTR Longtail. It has become synonymous with one of the purest race cars in modern motorsport history, which was resurrected with the McLaren 675LT. Now, the British automaker is adding another vehicle that will wear the revered name with the McLaren 600LT.
Based on the McLaren 570S, the new addition to McLaren’s Sport Series aims to give Ferrari nightmares with its lightweight carbonfiber bodywork and 600 PS, or about 592-hp. To fully embody the Longtail name, the car’s silhouette has been elongated with an extended front splitter, a longer rear diffuser, and rear wing. Inside you’ll find carbon fiber racing seats, or you can also option the super-lightweight carbon fiber seats found in the McLaren Senna hypercar for a more hardcore experience.
Slated to go into production starting this October, the McLaren 600LT will only be produced for 12 months. It will come with an eye-watering price tag of £185,500 in the U.K., but for those without an ample expendable income can always opt for the LEGO McLaren 720S to quench your McLaren thirst.
