LeBron James is best known for his legendary achievements in the NBA. However, did you know he is an active cycling enthusiast? This may come as no surprise to die-hard LeBron fans. However, for everybody else, the man has a history with two-wheeled transportation dating back to his youth. Recently, LeBron James’ company LRMR Ventures, and SC Holdings, made an estimated €30 million investment in German-based bike brand Canyon Bicycles.
Canyon Bicycles is a direct-to-consumer brand offering premium bikes for road, gravel, and mountain, including e-bikes. With this influx of capital, Canyon Bicycles aims to increase its engagement in the U.S and e-bike markets. In addition, the company wants to improve its online shopping experience for its customers as it elevates its global brand awareness.
LeBron James’ connection with bicycles goes beyond cardio and hobby status. In 2018, the four-time NBA champion provided 240 students in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, with a new bike and helmet. The following year, he purchased a custom 36-inch wheeled mountain bike, later dubbed the 29er. Given LeBron’s highly marketable potential, it is safe to presume that Canyon Bicycles is developing plans for a special-edition model in honor of its new investor. Only time will tell.
