Pandas in general do not make for agile athletes, but that is exactly what kung fu master Po has been able to achieve in the Kung Fu Panda series of animated films.
In the third installment of the beloved franchise, we see Po train his long lost panda brethren to defeat an evil spirit called Kai that terrorizes China. New characters such as Po’s biological father Li and love interest Mei Mei add to the long list of characters played by a who’s who of Oscar worthy performing actors in Kung Fu Panda 3.
The story may be more than predictable — where the most unlikely of kung fu masters must teach other even more unlikely students, feeling discouraged by the daunting task but returning triumphant to finally defeat his enemy and save the day — but do we really watch these animated feature films for the moral of the story? As long as we keep an open and empty mind and a bucket of popcorn, the fluffy panda will be sure to entertain us just like it did with the two previous films.
Oh wait, these are the same people that milked the crap out of the Shrek franchise, isn’t it? Crap.
