KAWS has spent years making familiar symbols feel slightly strange; his latest Uniqlo collection starts with three that belong to everyone. The KAWS Universe collection introduces Earth, Moon, and Sun characters alongside COMPANION across adult and kids apparel plus accessories.

The release extends KAWS’s role as Uniqlo’s inaugural Artist in Residence and a partnership that dates to 2016. The adult lineup includes four UT graphic T-shirts and three sweatshirts, while the kids range repeats the new character language at a smaller scale. Three Earth, Moon, and Sun charms also mark the first bag charms in a Uniqlo collaboration with KAWS.

The more interesting shift is that the project builds new KAWS iconography instead of relying entirely on COMPANION or licensed characters. Uniqlo supplies the mass-market clothing platform, while KAWS contributes original character work that can move between shirts, sweatshirts, and objects.

An earlier KAWS x Peanuts collection showed how naturally his work could translate to UT; the residency now gives him room to expand his own visual universe.

The collection launched online and in all U.S. stores on September 14. The current U.S. lineup prices adult UT graphic T-shirts at $29.90, sweatshirts at $49.90, and charms at $19.90, with purchases limited to one of each design per customer.
