Kia has released official photos of the all-new EV6 to give us a glimpse of Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle. These photos stir up the anticipation, as does the teaser-trailer, before the official premiere later this month. Details are slim on the 2022 Kia EV6 at the time of this publication, but we know it shares the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Two automakers sharing the same vehicle platform, and possibly batteries, has the making for a battle of automotive design.
The EV6’s exterior was crafted using Kia’s five pillars of design philosophy: ‘Bold for Nature,’ ‘Joy for Reason,’ ‘Power to Progress,’ ‘Technology for Life,’ and ‘Tension and Serenity.’ The Kia EV6 front fascia is described as a “Digital Tiger Face” with sharp narrow LED headlights arching towards the center grille like a tiger staring down its prey. The rear of the 2022 Kia EV6 continues the trend of flared rear haunches and features a swept-back windshield with sloping C-pillars at the very end. Like the Ioniq 5, the 2022 Kia EV6 looks like a stylish hatchback sedan, but we expect its dimensions to compete with a mid-size crossover SUV. Inside the Kia EV6’s interior, a beautiful single-spoke steering wheel with buttons on the center console for the A/C controls provokes a welcoming feeling of familiarity. Yet, the limited interior photos from Kia also show a curved digital-screen gauge cluster. Kia plans to unveil the all-electric 2022 Kia EV6 in late March 2021.
