Its new Ultrathin Tourbillon Onyx Edition showcases that duality with a minimalist, almost monochromatic presentation. The 41.5 mm case measures just 8.4 mm thick and is offered in either red gold or platinum, each limited to eight numbered pieces.
The polished onyx dial is carved from a single slab of stone and features an off‑center hours and minutes subdial in matte black onyx at 12 o’clock. At 6 o’clock, a large one‑minute tourbillon cage recalls the marine chronometers the brand once made for explorers.
Power comes from the hand‑wound calibre A&S8300, which is only 2.97 mm thick yet delivers a 100‑hour power reserve thanks to dual barrels. The movement is visible through a sapphire caseback and displays traditional hand‑finishing, including beveled bridges and polished screw heads.
Despite the delicacy, the watch offers 30 m of water resistance and is fitted with a soft alligator strap that matches the dial’s dark hue. The red gold version is priced at CHF 74,600, while the platinum model commands CHF 85,400. Both are delivered with a certificate of authenticity and a travel case.
By pairing precious metals with a deep black gemstone and an ultrathin tourbillon, Arnold & Son underscores its mastery of balanced proportions.
