Sony has introduced its HT A3000 Soundbar, a step down from its HT-A7000 model. It features 3.1 channels, including high-powered left, center, and right speakers and a built-in dual subwoofer. The system uses proprietary Sony 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology to produce immersive Dolby Atmos effects. The technology uses built-in microphones to measure the relative height and position of the soundbar and any rear speakers. Then, it takes the audio data and digitally processes it to create multiple phantom speakers by synthesizing sound waves.

“This technology [allows] Sony’s wide spatial sound field to fill every part of the room, immersing everyone present,” Sony said when announcing the new product. For authentic “Atmos” surround sound, Sony recommends picking up two SA-RS5 rear speakers, which add dedicated height drivers. Adding the SA-SW5 or SA-SW3 subwoofers will add more lows.

The soundbar HT-A3000 connects to your TV using the HDMI eARC connection and power-on. It also features USB, optical, Bluetooth, and interfaces seamlessly with Sony Bravia XR TVs. Plus, the soundbar works with Google-assistant with built-in Chromecast or Amazon Alexa-enabled devices. Add the A3000 to your speaker group to turn it into a smart speaker.

The Sony HT-A3000 Soundbar is priced at approximately $700 and is available for presale with a European release date of October 2022 alongside a premium 5.1 dual channel model, A5000, for $1,165.
