Sony has been teasing its electric car for years since it started a joint venture company co-owned with Honda. Now, Sony Honda Mobility plans to make a major announcement at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023. The big announcement will be unveiled at CES on January 4th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Supplementing the announcement of the big announcement is a teaser video showing an outline of the Sony EV’s hood. Before this, Sony Honda Mobility had previously stated intentions to deliver Level 3 autonomous driving technology in certain circumstances and Level 2+ capabilities, in addition to offering subscription services with the intent to add value to the EV. Moreover, the Sony and Honda EV could get integrated entertainment technology like the PlayStation 5.

The anticipation for what Sony Honda Mobility has in store for us at CES is fueled by our curiosity. The company announced its intent to roll out its first EV off the production line in 2026. These cars will be built for the North American market and emphasize online sales as the priority before importing them to Japan. In addition, Sony Honda Mobility plans to open pre-orders for its first electric vehicle during the first half of 2025, with sales to start before the end of the same year. More information will (hopefully) be unveiled at CES 2023.
