Maserati released official sketches of its track-only supercar code-named Project24. This track car is based on the current Maserati MC20 and is limited to only 62 units. Moreover, Project24 is a performance celebration of the brand’s motorsport pedigree and is a spiritual successor to the Maserati MC12, based on the Ferrari Enzo.

Since Project24 is untethered by the rules of street legal production cars, the designers at Centro Stile Maserati went all out to create an aggressively evolved MC20. Its official sketches show an F1-inspired front splitter, extended side sills, racing mirrors, and a large rear wing connected to a central fin. The back of the car displays redesigned tail lights, high-mounted dual exhaust pipes, and a racing-spec diffuser. In addition, Maserati stated that the car’s front and rear aero are “multi-adjustable,” allowing for higher levels of downforce. Finally, this special edition track car rolls on bespoke, center-lock forged aluminum wheels wrapped in slick racing tires.

Photos of the Maserati Project24 interior have not been released. However, the purpose track car does come equipped with an FIA-homologated roll cage, fire extinguisher, and fuel cell. The driver sits in a racing seat with a six-point harness and grabs onto a carbon fiber steering wheel with an integrated display. Optional features include a passenger seat, a rear-view camera, an in-car camera, and telemetry recording.

Performance derives from the Maserati Nettuno twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. Compared to the road-legal MC20’s 621-hp, Project24’s engine produces 730-hp. Its power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox with a racing clutch and mechanical limited-slip differential. The suspension consists of a double wishbone set up with adjustable dampers and anti-roll bars. A set of Brembo CCMR ventilated brakes with racing calipers and a bespoke brake cooling system stop the Project24 on a dime. Pricing for the Maserati Project24 has not been released. However, given its limited production and advanced performance, we expect all 62 units to sell quickly.
