No matter how we look at it, our days of relying on fossil fuel is unfortunately numbered. Looking towards better mobility, we’re in the midst of witnessing a huge push for electric vehicles with Tesla leading the way. To challenge Tesla’s throne, a new startup Ludic Motors is gearing up towards launching what can be seen as Tesla’s first real rival.
Their electric vehicle is the Lucid Air, a car that will directly challenge the top of the range a car that will directly challenge the top of the range Tesla Model S P100D. It’s equipped with two motors that power the front and the rear wheels, making a grand total of 1,000 hp, a number that was previously only reserved for supercars. Lucid promises that this will allow the vehicle to accelerate to 60 in just 2.5 seconds, which is identical to the P100D. Styling wise, it’s much more attractive and futuristic than the rather pedestrian looking Tesla. Scheduled to hit the market sometime in 2018 with a price tag of approximately $160,000, we’ll see if this new startup can dethrone Tesla as the king of EVs.
