One of modern society’s more unique inventions might be the idea of having things customized the way I like it, as we can see everyday from watching anyone order a “tall, non-fat, decaf, mocha, no whip, double shot, half-foam, soy milk, latte” at Starbucks. In all honesty, we’d be hard pressed to know exactly what all that means but Google thinks that this logic should apply to smartphones as well. Google Project Ara looks to remedy the lack of customization options of our current smartphone market where you can customize various functionalities of your phone without the need for technological savvy. From the looks of it, Ara seems to be a brilliant idea, but maybe Google focused too much on functionality as the current iteration’s design leaves much to be desired.
