Fender’s tribute to the 40-year journey of its entry-level brand of bass and guitars is embodied in the brand’s Squier 40th Anniversary Collection. It has been 40 years since Fender launched Squier under its own banner in 1982, and the company is celebrating in style. The collection features special editions of Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster, Jazz Bass, and Precision Bass. What’s more, Fender offers two versions, the Vintage Edition, and the Gold Edition.
Each guitar in the Vintage Fender Squier 40th Anniversary Collection is a rendition of the original series with aged chrome hardware, maple tinted neck, and an engraved neckplate paying homage to the heritage and ancestry of the Squier catalog. Fender made a few player-friendly refinements with a slim, “C”-shaped neck for comfortable playing. The vintage-style tuning machines and 3-saddle string-through-body bridge provide authentic performance. Plus, Fender’s single-coil pickups with alnico five magnets offer the familiar Tele tone.
The Fender Squier 40th Anniversary Gold Edition is an upscale version of the vintage portion of the collection. Fender says the Gold Edition is ready for the spotlight. Each instrument in this half of the anniversary collection boasts gold-plated hardware and a gold anodized aluminum pickguard. Not only that, but Fender added a bound Indian laurel fingerboard featuring Pearloid block inlays. And, like the vintage collection, these instruments also have an engraved anniversary neck plate.
