Luxury eyewear usually treats scratches as damage. The DITA x 424 Artoa.92 takes the opposite position, pairing a Japanese-made titanium aviator with 424 founder Guillermo Andrade’s interest in wear and distressing. Each pair ships with sandpaper so its yellow-gold finish can be altered by the owner.

Two diagonal-gradient CR-39 lens options, Pigeon Blood and Smoke, sit in a 143mm-wide titanium frame with 61mm lenses, a 12mm bridge, and 145mm temples. Anti-reflective lenses provide UVA and UVB protection, while custom titanium nose pads carry a laser-engraved edition number.

The package adds a distressed leather case, cleaning cloth, custom 424 bag, and the sandpaper in place of a conventional authenticator card. DITA warns that sanding permanently alters the frame and voids applicable warranty coverage.

The idea brings deliberate patina to the precise construction associated with Japanese-made eyewear. Only 100 pairs will be made, 50 in each lens color.
