Blended Scotch brand Dewar’s has released a Champion’s Edition bottling to commemorate the 2026 U.S. Open golf tournament. The 19‑year‑old whisky is matured initially in bourbon barrels before spending several months in Cabernet Franc casks sourced from Long Island’s Wölffer Estate. This finishing imparts red‑berry and floral aromas while preserving Dewar’s signature honeyed sweetness.

Bottled at 43 % ABV, the Champion’s Edition will be available in limited quantities during the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 from June 18 to 21, priced around $80. According to the release, the Cabernet Franc casks lend notes of strawberry and rose petals, complementing the blended Scotch’s vanilla and heather character. The packaging features tournament branding and a golfers’ trophy silhouette, positioning the bottle as a keepsake for fans.

While the whisky’s release coincides with a major sporting event, its balanced profile and age statement make it appealing beyond golf circles. Men who enjoy finishing casks or collect commemorative bottlings may find the Dewar’s Champion’s Edition a worthwhile addition to the bar cart. The bottling honours the storied relationship between golf and Scotch, a tradition that has inspired limited editions in previous tournament years. Dewar’s blenders used a selection of double‑aged malts and grains to achieve balance before finishing the blend in Cabernet Franc casks, a process seldom used in Scotch whisky.
The result marries notes of redcurrant, violet and cedar with the brand’s signature honey and heather. The bottle features an illustration of the championship’s trophy and comes housed in a presentation box. Proceeds from sales will support youth golf programmes through the U.S. Golf Association, linking the whisky to the sport beyond simple branding.
