Fans of the iconic movie Back to the Future can enjoy a customized DeLorean decked out like the one Marty McFly drove, but with a twist…it’s really a hovercraft! While it was built using a Universal Hovercraft design, the DeLorean DMC-12-Style Hovercraft has the famed gullwing doors from the movie’s beloved car. It also has working headlights as well as faux wheels with tires leveled at 90 degrees.
Power for this customized hovercraft is harnessed from 2 Briggs and Stratton engines. It hovers above the water thanks to a 24-inch lift fan that’s powered by a single-cylinder engine. A larger, 36-inch fan is located at the car’s rear to provide thrust. Meanwhile, a two-cylinder 627cc Briggs and Stratton engine delivers its muscle power.
There is seating for the operator and a single passenger and the ability to reach speeds of up to 31 mph under ideal conditions. The center stack has switchgear for the vehicle’s functions with labels inspired by the movie.
