The Citroen Ami Buggy is an electric commuter that was first launched in France last year in April. The electric Buggy is an inexpensive means of transportation that requires no license, like a scooter, and can be operated by users ages 14 and up because it is categorized as a quadricycle. The Citroen Ami is adorable by design. However, the My Ami Buggy Concept takes it up a notch by giving the cute runabout a rugged makeover.
The concept is described as something, “every child from the age of 14 to 77 would want to add to their Christmas list”, which is an optimistic statement. But then again, the My Ami Buggy Concept is an optimistic-looking vehicle. Small in size, the concept transforms the standard Ami Buggy from a city dweller into a trailblazing beach cruiser. Starting with a new matte gold paint scheme, the Ami Buggy Concept features bigger, all-terrain tires covered over by flared fenders. In addition, a set of bull-bars and headlight guards are added as well as rock rails and an auxiliary light bar. Moreover, the Buggy’s doors have been removed for that Jeep 4×4.
The Bear Grylls theme continues on the inside of the Ami Buggy Concept. The interior has twice the padding as the standard model. Additional equipment includes a matte gold-painted storage rack, cup holders, and multiple removable storage bags. Since this is merely a concept design, no specifications were released. However, for perspective, the standard Ami Buggy offers a top speed of 28 mph and a range of 43 miles on a single charge using a 5.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a 6-kW electric motor. The standard Citroen Buggy is set to become available in the U.S. market as part of a new EV subscription service soon.
