Carl Hansen & Søn, the Danish furniture manufacturer, is set to release a limited edition version of Hans J. Wegner’s iconic Wishbone Chair, in celebration of the designer’s birthday on April 2nd. The CH24 Birthday Edition 2023 Wishbone Chair is a tribute to Wegner’s legendary chair, which has been in continuous production since 1950.

The special edition chair will only be available for purchase on March 30th, 2023, but customers can pre-order it starting from March 20th. The CH24 Birthday Edition 2023 features an exclusive double-woven seat crafted in natural paper cord and oiled FSC-certified oak. The weaving technique, developed by the skilled craftsmen at Carl Hansen & Søn, is a homage to Wegner’s iconic chair and pays tribute to his focus on revealing the inner soul of furniture pieces through a simple and functional exterior.

The chair also features an engraved brass plate with Wegner’s signature and date of birth, adding a touch of elegance to the design. The CH24 Birthday Edition 2023 is an exceptional piece of furniture, with only a limited number available for purchase.

Wegner, one of the most innovative and prolific Danish furniture designers, created almost 500 chairs in his lifetime, many of them considered masterpieces. His legacy is characterized by his commitment to functionality and simplicity, and the Wishbone Chair exemplifies this philosophy. The CH24 Birthday Edition 2023 is a fitting tribute to Wegner’s life and work, and an excellent addition to any interior design enthusiast’s collection.
