A smart mug should make coffee less demanding, not add a special hand-washing ritual to the morning. The Ember Mug 3 fixes one of the line’s most obvious inconveniences by becoming the first full-size Ember mug rated for top-rack dishwasher cleaning.

The third-generation design keeps the heater and precision sensors inside the cup but adds direct temperature adjustment on the mug itself. Five small LEDs communicate the selected temperature and battery level while charging, reducing dependence on the companion app for routine changes. A new sliding lid is included, extending claimed battery life beyond three hours; without it, runtime is rated at 80 minutes. The lid also makes the cup easier to move around a desk or house.

Dishwasher compatibility is a more meaningful usability change than another app feature. Ember specifies the top rack and requires the mug to dry completely before charging; the charging coaster and cable still need to stay dry. Temperature-controlled drinkware only earns its place when it removes maintenance rather than adding it.

The Mug 3 is available in 10- and 14-ounce sizes and a broad range of colors, including Matcha Green, Salt Blue, and Sandstone. Ember prices the 10-ounce model at $129.95 and the 14-ounce version at $149.95, with a charging coaster and sliding lid included. The heating technology is familiar; the important update is that living with it now requires less ceremony.
