In the early years of motor sports, race car driving and classic time pieces went hand in hand, as each driver measured his time with these watches, pushing himself to the limit to shave off that extra 1/10 of a second. Each driver’s determination and dedication to his driving was what distinguished the drivers from a spot on the podium to a night of heavy drinking in defeat at the bar. Modern races use more sophisticated equipment to measure track time, but the imagery and nostalgia of watches and classic motoring have stuck with us to this day.

A relative newcomer to the watchmaking world, Briston found their inspiration from the competitive world of racing. Founded by French watchmaker Brice Jaunet, the watch label features the Briston Clubmaster Classic Acetate line of vintage racing inspired watches. The body is made from tortoise shell while the faces are done in four different colors that signify the liveries of historic racing teams; Alfa Romeo and Ferrari’s red, Bugatti’s blue, Mercedes’ silver, and Jaguar’s British racing green. The watch also comes with matching NATO watch straps to complete the look.

Although Briston may be a newcomer, their classically inspired yet modern watches stand out without ornamentation or excess. For fans of vintage racing, the Briton Clubmaster Classic Acetate might be the perfect watch without breaking the bank.
