Audi announced another addition to its line of e-mobility products. This new model is an electric mountain bike built by Italian e-bike specialist Fantic. The result of this collaboration is titled the Audi Electric Mountain Bike.
According to Audi, inspiration for this new e-bike came from its RS Q E-Tron Dakar rally car. Evidence is seen in the mountain bike’s presentation as it wears the same orange-and-black color scheme as the desert off-road race car. The e-bike is based on Fantic’s XMF 1.7 model. It features a 250-wall Brose S-Mag 36 electric motor producing 66 lb.-ft of torque. The 720-Wh lithium-ion battery pack delivers 36 volts.
Unique for the Audi branded e-bike compared to the standard Fantic is an Ohlins front fork, springs, and shocks, which increase suspension travel from 170mm to 180mm. Standard equipment includes a derailleur, chain, shifters, and brake by Sram and a Selle Italia saddle.
Those looking to shell out the premium price tag for the Audi Electric Mountain Bike can register for one through Audi Genuine Accessories. However, if you want to save a few bucks, you can buy a similar model from Fantic. But you won’t get the luxurious flex of riding an Audi-branded, Dakar rally-inspired, Italian-built electric mountain bike.
