Apple unveiled its new M2 Pro and M2 Max models of MacBook Pro today. The company says these new models offer game-changing performance improvements, including the longest battery life ever seen in a Mac. Users upgrading from Intel-based Mac models can expect to see significant improvements in performance, battery life, connectivity, and overall productivity.

The new MacBook Pro comes in 14 and 16-inch models and provides many advanced features. These devices support Wi-Fi 6E, making them up to twice as fast as the previous generation. There’s advanced HDMI, supporting 8K displays for the first time. The MacBook Pro boasts extensive connectivity options, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a Liquid Retina XDR display, studio-quality mics, and a six-speaker sound system. And they run on macOS Ventura, further enhancing the user experience. Apple designed the M2 Pro and M2 Max models to transform professional workflows across a wide range of industries, from art to science to app development.

The M2 Pro model of the new MacBook Pro features a CPU of 10 or 12 cores, providing a performance boost of 20% compared to previous models. With 200GBs of unified memory bandwidth and up to 32GBs of memory, users can easily handle large projects and run multiple professional apps with exceptional speed. The upgraded GPU offers a 30% increase in graphics performance, and the Neural Engine is 40% faster, which speeds up machine learning tasks such as video analysis and image processing. Apple says the powerful media engine in M2 Pro can handle the most popular video codecs, dramatically increasing video playback and encoding speeds while using minimal power.

The M2 Max model takes performance to the next level with a larger GPU featuring up to 38 cores and delivering a 30% increase in graphics performance compared to previous models. It also includes 400GBs of unified memory bandwidth, twice that of the M2 Pro, and up to 96GBs of unified memory, allowing for intensive graphics workloads. The new MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max models are available for pre-order now, with shipping beginning on Tuesday, January 24.
