The new, fifth-generation 2022 Range Rover has officially debuted. This new Range Rover is built on a new platform, offers new engine options, and focuses on luxury through a less-is-more design. The 2022 Range Rover wears a face smoother than a straight razor shave. In fact, the entire body has been given a close shave to project an efficiently beautiful and memorable shape.
Inside the 2022 Range Rover, the minimalist theme continues. This was done intentionally under the logic that car interiors should be kept simple and elegant. That is refreshing to hear and see, as modern interiors can often mimic the controls of the Star Trek Enterprise. In the new Range Rover, you see premium wood and leather but with a modern touch. The leather has been tanned in more environmentally friendly methods, and cow-free materials are available. In addition, the dashboard is uncluttered besides a new 13.1-inch curved touchscreen and 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster. Rear seating can opt for a pair of 11.4-inch digital screens.
Engine options on the new 2022 Range Rover start with the base turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Higher trim variants receive the newly developed 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 delivering 523-hp and 553 lb.-ft of torque. In addition, there is a plug-in hybrid variant Range Rover with 434-hp and 62 miles of EV range. However, this model will not be available until 2023. If you are really patient, Land Rover plans to debut a fully electric Range Rover in 2024.
Standard features on all Range Rover variants include electronic air suspension. Plus, rear-axle steering, which allows the back wheels to turn up to seven degrees for improved stability at high speed and agility at low speeds. Land Rover is currently taking reservations for the 2022 Range Rover and is expected to arrive in dealerships by spring 2022.
