GMC has unveiled the updated Sierra 1500 pickup truck for the 2022 production year. This new line of luxury-focused trucks showcases an exterior facelift and redesigned interior with improved drivetrain performance and driver aid technology. In addition, GMC is introducing the new Denali Ultimate and AT4-X trim levels. The 2022 GMC Sierra has been given a chrome smile with a curved chrome fascia. This is a refreshing look compared to competitors who have styled their trucks into looking like puzzled cavemen. New exterior color options include Titanium Rush Metallic, Dynamic Blue Metallic, and Desert Sand Metallic.

However, it’s the interior where the new 2022 GMC Sierra really shines. However, if you want to see the new interior, you will need to avoid the base model and select the SLE trim and above. Interior changes include a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.4-inch infotainment system placed horizontally instead of vertically, which makes the screen look at home rather than a tablet that’s been stuck on. In addition, this new screen offers the latest software like Amazon Alexa and Apple CarPlay and features split-screen displays.

The 2022 GMC Sierra offers a new center console and relocated shifter depending on trim level and seating options. Top-of-the-line variants like the new Denali Ultimate will feature an Alpine Umber cabin with full-grain leather throughout the interior with a microsuede headliner. The off-road-focused but equally luxurious AT4-X features an Obsidian Rush interior with black leather, red stitching, and dark ash wood trim. Bose audio system, 16-way massaging front seats, and a 6.2-liter V8 engine are standard on these GMC Sierra trim levels.

Higher trim levels also come standard with GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system, which allows for “hands-free” on compatible roadways in the U.S. and Canada. This system also works when the truck is towing and offers Automatic Lane Change and Lane Change on Demand functions. The new GMC Sierra is scheduled to arrive at dealers in early 2022, and GMC is currently accepting reservations. Of course, new tech and luxury means the GMC Sierra 1500 will cost more at higher trim levels. For example, the Denali Ultimate has a starting price of $80,395 which is close to $20k over the standard Denali.
