After choosing a rye for the fourth release in the exclusive Wild Turkey Master’s Keep series, master distiller Eddie Russell pointed out that Wild Turkey is one of only a few historic distilleries that has “remained loyal to crafting rye even as vodka and gin became the new hot thing.” To produce the new Master’s Keep Cornerstone Rye Whiskey, he developed a well-rounded rye whiskey and aged it for between 9 and 11 years in his oldest #4 alligator char barrels.
The end result is an exceptional 109-proof spirit that presents a nose of vanilla and black pepper. When this whiskey hits the tongue, these delicate aromas give way to flavors of toasted rye that are balanced with pronounced overtones of baked apple and honey.
Sound intriguing? Well, don’t wait too long to try it. Wild Turkey will release 16,000 bottles of its Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Cornerstone Rye Whiskey for global distribution.
