Vulcain, a company with a rich heritage in fine watchmaking dating back to 1858, recently released the Skindiver Nautique, a new dive watch, aimed at the vintage watch market. The company says that the inspiration for the Skindiver Nautique came from a Vulcain model launched in 1960, making this $1600 watch a compelling option in the trend of reissued diving watches. The Skindiver Nautique continues the company’s historical heritage and prominent role in international watchmaking. The watch boasts several features of a traditional dive watch, including a Super-Luminova that enhances the hands and indexes for improved legibility in low light and a unidirectional fluted bezel with a black ceramic insert and contrasting white markers for ultra-legibility.
Additionally, the watch is rated for depths of up to 200 meters. Vulcain says the new Skindiver Nautique is ideally proportioned, featuring a 38mm stainless steel case. One version boasts a matte black dial with white transfer-printed minute track, khaki brown hour markers, and Super-Luminova-enhanced hands. The other version is a vertical brushed blue dial, white Vulcain signature, transfer-printed minute track, and khaki brown Super-Luminova-enhanced hour markers and hands. Both models are available with a choice of a Black Carbon Leather Strap, a Black Plain Strap, or a Brown Plain Strap. Fans of vintage timepieces can purchase these modern takes on Vulcain’s vintage Skindiver Nautique in the new blue and black models online on the company’s website.
