Seiko is marking its 145th anniversary with one of the more visually striking entries in the Presage lineup to date. The new limited-edition HCC007 brings together traditional Japanese porcelain craftsmanship and the brand’s evolving design language, centering the watch around a cobalt-blue Arita porcelain dial inspired by “Seiko Blue,” the signature color that emerged during the company’s transformative run of innovations in the 1960s.

The dial itself is the centerpiece. Produced under the supervision of Arita porcelain master craftsman Hiroyuki Hashiguchi and created by kiln specialist Toshiaki Kawaguchi and his team, the surface uses a cobalt-blue glaze traditionally associated with Arita ware. While Seiko has experimented with porcelain dials before, this marks the first time the deep blue tone has appeared within the Presage collection.

Rather than relying on flat color alone, Seiko developed a radiating pattern beneath the glaze to emphasize tonal variation and depth. Raised and recessed surfaces interact with light differently across the dial, creating subtle shifts in texture and saturation that feel more architectural than decorative. The process itself is highly complex, requiring specialized porcelain formulated to be more than four times stronger than conventional Arita porcelain in order to withstand daily wear.

The watch also debuts a newly refined case profile for the Presage Classic Series. Measuring 39.6mm wide and 12.8mm thick, the stainless-steel case uses softer transitions and curved surfaces to frame the porcelain dial without overpowering it. A dual-curved sapphire crystal enhances the watch’s vintage-inspired proportions while keeping reflections controlled and understated.

Inside sits Seiko’s automatic Caliber 6R51, offering a 72-hour power reserve and manual winding capability. The watch is paired with a leather strap sourced from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries, reinforcing the collection’s emphasis on material quality and responsible sourcing.

Limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide, the Seiko Presage HCC007 arrives in July 2026 priced at $1,700. More than a simple anniversary edition, it feels like a reminder of how effectively Seiko continues to bridge industrial watchmaking with traditional Japanese craft.
