Crowdsourced watch design can quickly resemble a committee meeting conducted on a dial. The Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch Fan-Selected Limited Edition emerged with a clearer mandate: enthusiasts selected its appearance, while Seiko left the established mechanical platform alone.

The HBC011 follows a global vote held during the 60th-anniversary year of Seiko’s first diver’s watch. Four concepts represented the sea at different points between sunrise and sunset, with “Daytime Blue” receiving the most votes. The winning design combines a bright blue bezel with a blue dial that changes character under shifting light. Its embossed pattern references the wave mark engraved on Seiko diver casebacks since 1975.

Beneath that treatment is the familiar 1965 Heritage Diver architecture. The stainless-steel case measures 40mm across, 13mm thick, and 46.4mm from lug to lug, with Seiko’s super-hard coating and a curved sapphire crystal carrying an anti-reflective treatment on its inner surface. The automatic caliber 6R55 supplies approximately 72 hours of power reserve, while 300-meter water resistance, a screw-down crown, and Lumibrite on the hands, markers, and bezel preserve its modern dive-watch credentials.

Its steel bracelet includes a clasp offering 15mm of tool-free adjustment in six 2.5mm increments. Seiko will produce 4,500 numbered watches for worldwide release in October 2026, including 2,000 for Japan. A U.S. price of $1,400 has been reported, but Seiko’s American Prospex catalog has not yet published domestic pricing or ordering details.
