Mercedes-Benz Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener and Louis Vuitton artistic director Virgil Abloh will unveil a concept Mercedes-Maybach vehicle in less than two weeks. This collaboration is in celebration of Maybach’s 100th anniversary and the unveiling will be at Art Basel Miami Beach 2021, one of the largest art events in the world. There are no details as to what this Virgil Abloh and Mercedes-Maybach concept car will include, but what we know is its name – Project MAYBACH. The concept vehicle is being hyped as a preview that will transform “the brand into a luxury electric future.” That leads us to believe that Project MAYBACH will be on an EV platform. However, this is not the first time Mercedes-Maybach has teamed up with Virgil Abloh to create a bespoke car. Last year, Project Geländewagen was unveiled, which consisted of a Mercedes-Benz G-Class transformed into a NASCAR-inspired stock car.

We don’t know what vehicle is being used to create Project MAYBACH. However, considering that Art Basel Miami Beach is assembling hundreds of the leading art galleries worldwide, both Virgil Abloh and Mercedes-Maybach have quite a few critics to impress. Mark your calendars for the unveiling of Project MAYBACH on December 1st.
