Toyota FT-4X Concept

The Toyota FT-4X Concept is the modern 4x4 vehicle for the intrepid urbanite.

Hey you, millennials, Toyota knows you’re not climbing mountains, fording raging rivers or falling out of airplanes with wingsuits. That’s why they’ve targeted the Toyota FT-4X Concept for you. It’s the modern compact and sturdy 4×4 for the intrepid urbanite.

Toyota’s not calling you all a bunch of pussies, but they know that you enjoy adventure…lite. The Toyota FT-4X Concept’s concept is that it should take you to the base of Mt. McKinley so you can enjoy the view, not trek up it. That would be insane. You’re here to take a few selfies of you and the gang out admiring the mountain from a safe vantage point and post them to Instagram. Take that, danger!

Toyota has a word for your desires, millennials: Casualcore. It means you’re not out for hardcore activity. It’s…casual.

Toyota has quite a few owned words and phrases and acronyms to describe your 4×4 vehicle. There’s Rugged Charm (capitalized just like that). It’s an automotive design ethos based on simplicity, durability and capability. Then there’s the rear hatch opening in both Urban Mode and Outdoor Mode – sideways or up. It’s all part of Toyota’s New Global Architecture, or TNGA. That seems to place a lot of engineering and design emphasis on youthful city charm and forming a protective shell over our intrepid and semi-adventurous millennial driver and passenger.

It’s only a concept, but the Toyota FT-4X Concept makes you look forward to your next road or off-road adventure, doesn’t it?
