The Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto is a luxury watch inspired by a vivid memory the company’s founders share. Laurent Ferrier, Francois Servanin, and their teammate Francois Trisconi raced the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 9 and 10, 1979. The team of amateur drivers crossed the finish line in third place behind actor and race car enthusiast, Paul Newman. Ferrier offered a Nautilus to his teammate Servanin, which sparked the duo’s desire to create their own watch. Thirty years later, this dream was turned into a reality.
Inspired by this iconic 1979 race, the 2022 Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto is sporty and aerodynamic yet curvaceous, much like the Porsche 935 Turbo the team raced that June. The Sport Auto has a mechanical look with a fully integrated grade 5 titanium metal bracelet, inclined sides on the center links, and a screwed-down ball-shaped crown. The watch combines the founders’ passion for race vehicles as well as traditional watchmaking.
Perhaps the most irresistible feature of the Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto is the domed sapphire that is appealing to sight and touch. This offers a bird’s-eye view of the blue opaline finished dial that can be easily seen, even when taking tight turns at high speeds. The Sport Auto is water-resistant up to 120 meters, guaranteed comfortable, and a tribute to the history of Laurent Ferrier.
