The Dalmore distillery began producing single malt whiskies in 1839, expanding its selection in recent years to include a core range of twelve to twenty-five-year-old luxury offerings for the discerning drinker. As the company’s bicentenary approaches, it has launched an exclusive special edition in partnership with the prestigious V&A Dundee Design Museum.

Featuring three planned releases in total, the Dalmore Luminary No 2 2024 Edition continues the collaboration between Dalmore and V&A which began in 2020 with the record sale of the Decades No. 6 collection for £100,000. The second entry draws upon the architectural design talent of Melodie Leung, the Associate Director of the Zaha Hadid Architects studio. Inspired by the copper stills and rich maturation process employed by Dalmore to achieve its distinctive flavors, it forms the basis of the sculptured bottle and presentation case.

Housed within the coiled glass sculpture is a 49-year-old single malt from Dalmore, hand-toasted by master distiller Gregg Glass and finished in a hybrid cask to introduce sweet smoke and a floral undercurrent. Titled The Rare, it’s a tribute to both the transparency and depth of the whisky, destined for auction at Sotheby’s in May 2024.

The Dalmore Luminary No 2 2024 Edition also features a viable alternative for enthusiasts, with the Dalmore Luminary entering a production run of 20,000 bottles. Aged sixteen years, this whisky promises to deliver a zesty combination of chocolate orange, crème brûlée, and worn leather on the nose, with a nutmeg and figs palate followed by a medium mango and oak spice finish. The Dalmore Luminary No.2 Scotch Whisky 2024 is available for preorder now and will be shipped by late May 2024.
