The Tesla J1772 Gen 2 Wall Connector uses 9.6 kW or 40 amps of power for the charge of one vehicle at a time. It comes with a long 24-foot cable, so for those who do not have a garage, it is very convenient. The cable will be able to reach with ease and includes an indoor/outdoor power setting. The charger needs to be installed by a qualified electrician that is experienced with these types of home projects because Tesla recommends that, along with installation, a 50 amp circuit breaker needs to be present. The good news is that if an owner has multiple EVs to charge, it is possible to do this with more than one Tesla J1172 Gen 2 Wall Connector, without overwhelming a home’s power grid.
