A lightweight running watch only works if “lightweight” does not become shorthand for missing features. The Suunto Run 2 keeps its body at 35 grams while adding offline maps, a far brighter display, and longer GPS endurance than the first generation.

The 1.32-inch AMOLED now reaches 2,000 nits, up from 600 nits on the original Suunto Run. Battery capacity rises from 295 to 380 mAh, stretching everyday use from eight to 10 days and all-systems multi-band GNSS tracking from 20 to 24 hours. Dual-band L1+L5 positioning remains central, while the new model upgrades both GPS and wrist-based heart-rate hardware.

Navigation is the bigger functional change. Offline maps can now live directly on the watch, with either 4GB or 64GB of storage shared between mapping and offline music.

Real-time running tools include EnergySense, which relates present effort to remaining energy, and Marathon Time, which continuously projects a finish based on pace, elevation, distance, and fitness. A stainless-steel bezel, Gorilla Glass, and 5 ATM water resistance keep the slim case practical beyond training.

The Run 2 sits below the more multisport-focused Suunto Core 2 in intent. The 4GB version costs $349, while the 64GB model is $399 and is available now.
