Originally released in Korea in late March of this year, Samsung has now made its new M8 Smart Monitor available for purchase in the US and UK. Between the design and the build of the M8, there is a lot that is impressive. From a design perspective, it is super slim and stylish in that the monitor measures less than 12mm (0.47-inches) thick, and the 32-inch screen sports a pleasing matte finish. Samsung also offers four tasteful colors – Warm White, Sunset Pink, Daylight Blue, and Spring Green, with the white version selling at $700 and the latter three colors priced at $730.
The 4K display of the Samsung M8 offers a remarkably crisp and clear picture, so whether you are working on a highly detailed spreadsheet or relaxing and binge-watching your favorite Netflix show, this monitor will be easy on the eyes. The M8 offers 400 nits of typical brightness, a 3,000:1 static contrast ratio, support for HDR10+, a grey-to-grey response time of 4ms, a 60Hz refresh rate, and 99 percent coverage of the sRGB color space.
The Samsung M8 Smart Monitor also shines in terms of everything else it offers. It works well as a smart, internet-enabled TV as well as a monitor. There is an included remote control that makes navigation a breeze. There is also a little joystick button on the back of the monitor that you can also use to get around the screen. The monitor itself can run video streaming apps like Apple TV Plus, Netflix, and Disney Plus. Add in the attachable webcam and there’s so much you can do with this monitor even before you have connected a computer to it. There is of course support for Samsung DeX, which means you can run apps streamed from your Samsung smartphone on the M8, and as an added bonus you can choose between Samsung Bixby and Amazon Alexa for your smart assistant voice control.
