Best known for his “Sexy Robot” series, famed designer Hajime Sorayama has collaborated with watch titan Roger Dubuis to create an original, hyper-performing watch as part of the Excalibur watch lineup. Belonging to the Urban Culture Tribe offering, the Roger Dubuis x Sorayama watch is innovative, high-performing, and a piece of virtual modern art.
The Excalibur Sorayama Monobalancier watch is an original timepiece that combines modern functionality with high style. Bringing high-quality Swiss manufacturing to the “disruptive” style of Sorayama, this watch is edgy, elegant, and classic. The base model for the Roger Dubuis x Sorayama timepiece is the Excalibur Monobalancier, which saw a design overhaul in early 2022. The 42mm watch features the visible caliber RD 720SQ movement and highly polished curves made with grade 5 titanium. This highly modernized watch features a visible flash of the interior, including a glimpse of the micro-rotor hand-designed by Sorayama. The micro-rotor features highlights of gold and silver elements.
As described by Sorayama, the timepiece is the optimal harmony of two artists coming together: “The Excalibur Sorayama MB is a perfect blend of two worlds, with Roger Dubuis’ and my signature both recognizable at first sight. I’m thrilled we were able to bring such a hyper-expressive timepiece to life. By pushing our limits, we’ve created a distinctive moiré and a singular masterpiece.” The newly designed Roger Dubuis x Sorayama timepiece is a limited edition that is capped at 28 individual timepieces. While the watch will be available worldwide, the initial watch release will be available in Japan first.
