High-end watch brand Roger Dubuis has been making innovative wristwatches since 1995. For the new Roger Dubuis x Gully Excalibur Monotourbillon, the company has taken yet another bold step in a different direction by collaborating with the renowned French graffiti artist Gully. Although he has produced works on canvas that have commanded high prices in galleries, Gully is perhaps best known for his groundbreaking street work and his intricately lettered “tag,” which employs his trademark single-line technique. Gully’s single-line technique is on glorious display in the new Roger Dubuis x Gully Excalibur Monotourbillon, Like other Excalibur wristwatches, this new release features the iconic Roger Dubuis star. But in a rebellious nod from Gully, the project has deconstructed the star-shaped bridge, leaving it in pieces. Gully also literally marks the dial with his prominent signature.
The Roger Dubuis x Gully Excalibur Monotourbillon has multiple microstructures that are filled with a brightly colored, luminescent lacquer. These and all other decorative and functional structures are housed in a 42mm titanium case of dark grey, which is mounted on a strap of black calf leather. In terms of performance, the Excalibur Monotourbillon has an increased power reserve of 72 hours. It also promises enhanced durability thanks to its use of a revolutionary new lubricant.
