Porsche Design is celebrating its 50-year anniversary with the Limited Edition 50Y Sunglass Capsule Collection. This collection includes an updated version of Porche’s Iconic P’8478 sunglasses (circa 1978). Porsche says the P’8478 is the most recognizable sunglasses of all time, symbolizing exceptional design and prestige. The P’8478 set the standard with droplet-shaped lenses and a revolutionary interchangeable lens mechanism. Now, these sunglasses are available with modern, almost flat base two curve lenses, while the mechanism remains unchanged.
The company’s Squared Aviator, variant P’8928, comes in a matte black frame made from titanium with accents in satin-gloss platinum. Both styles offer a new, flat base-lens curve, with interchangeable lens sets featuring the company’s VISION DRIVE™ lens technology in polarized gray and olive or silver mirrored. The matte black frame made from titanium with accents in satin-gloss platinum accentuates both lens colors perfectly.
The 50-year edition of the Porsche Design P’8942 is manufactured from 100% titanium with RXP® temple tips. This pair of sunglasses is extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear. Available in black with platinum gray highlights. All of the 50Y Sunglasses are limited worldwide to 1,972 pairs. Each of the glasses in the capsule collection has an individual number (0001-1972) that can be found on the inside of the temple. These 50-year edition sunglasses come in a high-quality anniversary box with an exclusive leather sunglass strap.
