Stepping into a Porsche is an experience that quite literally has you seated in the lap of luxury. As stunning and unmistakable as the exteriors of the German sports cars are, their interiors are every bit on par with the sultry bodies of the 911, Carrera, et al. Porsche Design takes elements from the interior of those sports cars and places them onto your wrist for a look that is just as alluring. The Porsche Design Custom Built Watches take things a step further. These timepieces allow buyers to configure the watches to their exact specifications, emulating the experience of purchasing a Porsche. With this approach, Porsche Design continues to capture the experience offered by the sports cars with its line of apparel.
Each tailor-made timepiece is built using a Chronotimer Series 1 case. The high-tech titanium case comes in a black or bead-blasted titanium finish with tachymeter and timer variations on its bezel. The case frames a dial which emulates the rev counter of the Porsche 911. A matte black finish with white hour, minute, and seconds hands are easily apparent thanks to the 7-layer anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
Porsche Design gives buyers the benefit of being able to choose from 14 different color options that the leather strap of the watch’s bracelet comes in. Each colorway is taken from the color palette offered to buyers purchasing a Porsche 911. Contrasted stitching which uses genuine Porsche vehicle thread offers further customization to make each timepiece a one-of-a-kind.
The core of the watch uses a Porsche Design chronograph movement that is made in-house to COSC specifications. The caseback simulates the rotor of the eponymous sportscars, with the Porsche crest dead-center. The winding rotor comes in 24 different color variations with custom laser-engraving provided by Porsche Design. Once every customization is selected, Porsche Design takes 12 weeks to assemble the watch in-house at its Swiss manufactory.
