The Dakar Rally pushes drivers to their limits on some of the world’s most challenging terrain. The extreme tests of this off-road endurance race inspire drivers, racing fans, and spectators around the globe.
The engineers and innovators at Porsche Design Timepieces used the Dakar Rally as inspiration for the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 911 Dakar & 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition. The company conquers new terrain with the first ultra-light titanium carbide case. The material took years to develop and is even lighter than titanium, a former staple in lightweight watches.
Both timepieces are 42.7mm and feature the Porsche Design Calibre WERK 01.240 movement that is COSC certified for extreme accuracy. Specially-designed markings make reading time under the blistering desert sun effortless, and numerous watch details match the specifics of their respective vehicles, the Porsche 911 Dakar and 911 Dakar Rallye Design. Both watches arrive with a leather strap with elaborate perforation and backing made from Race-Tex.
Unfortunately, the watches are not available for public purchase. Porsche Designs made an extremely limited collection of just 2,500 units. Each piece features a limited edition number to match its exact Porsche 911 Dakar or 911 Dakar Rallye Design sportscar. Customers must own or purchase the corresponding vehicle to buy the watch.
