Philips updates their Hue line of smart light bulbs with the Philips Hue Wireless Dimming Kit. As the name suggests, the new LED bulb comes with a wireless dimmer that can be attached to your wall or taken out to be used as a wireless remote that can control up to 10 bulbs.
Unlike the original Hue, the new bulbs do not require a Bridge hub for their operation, meaning that there’s more flexibility for those that just may need a simple light source. That is not to say that the new bulbs aren’t compatible with the older system as they can be connected to the Bridge hub for more control. This was most likely done to insure that the new bulbs also work with Apple’s upcoming HomeKit, the highly anticipated smart home solution from Apple.
The Philips Hue Wireless Dimming Kit will arrive in most retailers in September.
