All vehicles have the essential purpose of transporting people from point A to point B. However, some cars are purpose-built to reach point B in the most fun way possible, like the newly introduced Morgan Plus Four CX-T, a special-edition off-road variant of the iconic British sports car. Morgan unveiled the Plus Four CX-T as a limited-production model. Morgan did its homework to ensure the CX-T could handle an all-terrain grand tour.
Morgan worked with Rally Raid UK and Dakar Rally competitors to develop the bespoke suspension and off-roading equipment featured in the Plus Four CX-T. A five-piece armor plating protects the undercarriage to shield the car’s chassis, engine, transmission, and gas tank. The factory suspension was reworked with modified wishbone arms from the Morgan Plus Six and specially designed bushings with EXE-TC coil-overs. It rides on larger wheels wrapped in all-terrain rubber. The rear side-exit exhaust system is bespoke to improve ground clearance.
The rear of the Morgan Plus Four CX-T has been reassigned to carry off-roading equipment. It offers space to mount two spare tires, luggage and tools, and emergency supplies. Inside the off-road-roadster is an external roll cage strong enough to double as a mounting rack for bicycles or surfboards. The dashboard features a RAM mount track to secure Go-Pro cameras and smartphones, with a flexible map light and a notebook holder. Behind the seats is a bespoke first aid kit designed by Morgan.
Morgan stated it would only produce eight examples of the Plus Four CX-T. Oddly enough, Morgan did not go into detail on what engine is powering the vehicle. However, one can assume it will be the 255-hp BMW developed 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four used in the standard Morgan Plus Four. This rugged roadster looks like guaranteed fun while wearing tweed.
