‘Morbius’ Features Jared Leto As Marvel’s Living Vampire Anti-Hero

Sony Pictures unveils its second trailer for ‘Morbius,’ the third cinematic entry in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.

The second official trailer for Morbius, with Jared Leto in the starring role, just dropped today. Based on the Marvel Comics character Morbius, the Living Vampire, the film follows a Nobel-prize-winning biochemist named Michael Morbius stricken with a rare blood disease. In his attempt to find a cure and save others suffering the same fate, Dr. Morbius inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead. The trailer brilliantly highlights the struggle Morbius now faces –  “Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”

Directed by Swedish filmmaker Daniel Espinosa, who helmed such films as Babylonsjukan, Outside Love, Snabba Cash, Safe House, Child 44, and Life. Morbius also features cast members Matt Smith (Doctor Who, The Crown) Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising, Triple Frontier), Al Madrigal (Night School, The Way Back), Tyrese Gibson (2 Fast 2 Furious, Transformers), and Michael Keaton. The film was originally scheduled to release in July 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will now arrive in theaters on January 28, 2022, in IMAX. The film will also stream on Netflix, but the release date is not yet known.
