Mode Designs recently unveiled the Sonnet customizable keyboard. The company says they will make each of these sleek new keyboards to order. Mode says the Sonnet is the result of meticulous attention to detail and the company’s commitment to its craft. To that end, they built the Mode Designs Sonnet to last a lifetime. It features beautiful yet durable surface finishes, fully-finished internal bottoms, and weights in brass, stainless steel, and polycarbonate. There are also customizable accents enabling users to change the keyboard’s appearance. Plus, the Sonnet boasts a modular construction for easy assembly. Mode says their new keyboard offers seven plate materials and two different mounting styles that provide a unique level of flexibility.
One option is the isolated top mount that provides an open sound signature and a bouncy typing feeling. On the other hand, the stack mount mutes the sound signature, giving the user a firm typing feel. And it has optional sound dampening. The Mode Designs Sonnet offers enhanced productivity with an optimized form factor and asymmetrical, compact layout, and improved ergonomics. What’s more, the keyboard emphasizes the power of keymaps, allowing the user to create shortcuts on any key. This keyboard is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux support and is programmable through QMK/VIA. It is available for preorder now.
