The AMG badge has been bestowed on high-performance Mercedes-Benz vehicles for 55 years. In celebration of this milestone, Mercedes-Benz debuted the Edition 55 variants for the 2022 AMG G63. This special edition G-wagon will go on sale in Europe. However, 55 examples of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Edition 55 will be shipped to the U.S. Press photos showcase the G63 Edition 55 in a G Manufaktur Opalite White paint, but the limited models sold in America will only be offered in Obsidian Black Metallic exterior color. A set of 22-inch cross-spoke design wheels complement each of the two colors.

Apart from the elegant colors, the exterior of the AMG G63 Edition 55 features a unique graphic dressed across the lower section of its doors. Each model is also equipped with AMG’s Night appearance package with additional black exterior accents. The Edition 55 AMG features red and black Nappa leather seats. Other red accents adorn the G63’s interior door panels, and carbon fiber trim is expressed throughout the cabin. Bespoke “Edition 55” and “55” emblems serve as the cherry on top.

Under the hood of the Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Edition, 55 is a hand-built twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 producing 577-hp. This powerful V8 rotates all four wheels with the help of a nine-speed transmission and three locking differentials. It provides enough muscle to propel the nearly three-ton SUV from zero to 60 in under 5 seconds.

A recent supply shortage has affected the production of V8-powered Mercedes-Benz models for 2022. Pricing has not been announced. However, the AMG G63 Edition 55 will be available in Europe toward the end of the year. U.S. buyers interested in one of the 55 units being shipped to America will need to contact their local dealer for more information.
