If there’s anyone we don’t mind ghosting us, it’s Hodinkee and Leica. After the brands’ successful 2019 M10-P “Ghost Edition” collab, Hodinkee’s horologists reviewed Leica’s venerable Q2. The resulting Leica Q2 “Ghost” Set by Hodinkee eschews Leica’s iconic red dot and black paint in favor of an understated aesthetic reminiscent of the desirable “ghost bezel” defect on certain vintage dive watches.

For the Q2 Ghost, Hodinkee opted for a gray camera body wrapped in soft gray leather specially treated to protect it from the elements. A gray woven strap completes the look. The Q2 Set adds ‘Leica’ lettering to the camera body and an engraved display showing its serial number. A matching silver thumb rest is also included.

Shutterbugs looking for enhanced performance won’t find anything new: the Q2 Ghost boasts the same specs as its not-so-spooky counterpart, including the standard 28mm f/1.7 Summilux lens, 47-megapixel sensor, and 4K video shooting capabilities. In other words, it’s powerful enough for everything from an offhand snap of your Insta-worthy lunch to kids’ lacrosse matches. It’s also dust and spray-waterproof to the IP52 standard, but we’ll take Leica’s word on that, considering the $6,000 price tag.

For horophiles who’ve already scared up a ghost-bezel Rolex, that’s a small price to pay to complete the look. Don’t get spooked: only 2,000 cameras and 150 Q2 sets will be available for pre-order and purchase.
